While Canada’s National Women’s Team will be front and centre at the 2021 IIHF Women’s World Championship, they won’t be the only Canadians on the ice in Calgary.

Seven Canadians are among the 21-woman officiating crew selected by the International Ice Hockey Federation for the women’s worlds, set for Aug. 20-31 at WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park. They will work alongside officials from Austria, Finland, Russia, Sweden and the United States.

REFEREES LINESPERSONS

Cianna Lieffers (Saskatoon, Sask.)

Alexandra Blair (Weyburn, Sask.)

Elizabeth Mantha (Longueuil, Que.)

Jessica Chartrand (Gatineau, Que.)

Shauna Neary (Halifax, N.S.)

Justine Todd (Woodville, Ont.)

Lacey Senuk (Edmonton, Alta.)

This group was originally selected to work the tournament in the spring in Halifax and Truro, N.S., before its cancellation.

“Hockey Canada is proud of the seven Canadian officials that have been selected to work the 2021 IIHF Women’s World Championship,” said Dan Hanoomansingh, manager of officiating with Hockey Canada. “These referees and linespersons have stayed focused and game-ready as this event came together, and we know they will represent Canada with pride when they step on the ice in Calgary. They have worked tirelessly to get to this point in their careers, and to be considered among the top officials in the world is an honour.”

All seven officials are products of the Hockey Canada Officiating Program, which provides a pathway for officials to succeed at all levels of hockey and is the foundation for the training and development of officials across Canada.
