Canada 3 - Leduc GM Schwab Oil Kings 1 Exhibition LEDUC, AB – A fullhouse packed the Leduc Black Gold Receation Centre to watch the hometown Midget AAA Schwab GM Oil Kings take on Canada’s Women’s Olympic team. The first period was evenly matched with Leduc narrowly outshooting Team Canada 11-10. The Oil Kings got on the board early just 59 seconds into the game as Kenny Bradley tapped in a rebound off the pad of Charline Labonte. Team Canada evened the score late with just 49 seconds remaing as Gillian Apps banged home a rebound following a Hayley Wickenheiser pointshot on the powerplay. Gina Kingsbury earned the other assist. The Oil Kings outshot Team Canada 13-9 in the second but Canada came away with the only goal as Gina Kingsbury received a nice stretch pass from Gillian Ferrari and went in alone on a breakaway beating Allen York through the five hole. Leduc continued to hold the edge in shots in the third period by a margin of 15-6 but Charline Labonte was solid in the Canadian net keeping the Oil Kings off the scoreboard. Katie Weatherston added some insurance for Canada at the 7:48 mark of the period with assists going to Vicky Sunohara and Gillian Ferrari. Once again the evening ended with a five player shootout. Bretton Cameron, Mark Hayduk and Kenny Bradley scored for the Oil Kings as Leduc edged Canada 3-2 in the shootout. Cassie Campbell and Hayley Wickenheiser replied for Canada. Tonight’s game concluded Team Canada’s AMHL exhibition schedule. The team will train in Calgary for one more week prior to departing for Turin, Italy on Sunday January 29th
