Canada 4 - Sweden 0 Exhibition TEAM CANADA TAKES TWO GAMES VS. SWEDEN TYRINGE, SWEDEN – Team Canada faced Sweden for the second time in as many nights. After an 11-0 victory for Canada Thursday night, Sweden came out and played a very tight checking defensive game. Sami Jo Small got the start between the pipes for Canada, and Cecilia Anderson got the node in net for Sweden. Neither goalie was heavily tested in the first period, but both were able to keep either team from registering a goal, which was drastically different from the previous night when Canada scored five first period goals. In the second period Canada solved the Swedish goalie 29 seconds into the period when Gillian Apps went in all alone, and although she fanned on the puck, she still beat Anderson as she followed the Canadian player and not the puck. Kelly Bechard increased Canada’s lead to 2-0 when she scored four minutes into the period. Sweden had a few opportunities but was unable to get anything by Sami Jo Small. Canada’s Jayna Hefford set up a pair of power play goals in the third period; with power forward Caroline Ouellette the trigger person on both. Sami Jo Small made 15 saves in the victory for her second shut-out of the year. Team Canada will now travel to Turin, Italy on Saturday for a couple of days of practice before the Torino Ice tournament starts on Monday.
