3 Canada White - 8 Cariboo Cougars Fall Festival TEAM WHITE FALLS TO COUGARS AT FALL FESTIVAL Prince George, BC – Team Canada White fell behind early and came up short in its attempt at a comeback in an 8-3 loss to the Cariboo Cougars of the B.C. Major Midget League on Tuesday night at the National Women’s Team Fall Festival. Team White gave up three goals in the first 12:11 against the Cougars. But White made a game of it in the second period, when Valerie Chouinard (Matane, QC/Mercyhurst College, CHA) and Jennifer Botterill (Winnipeg, MB/Mississauga, NWHL) scored goals less than four minutes apart to make it 3-2 going into the third. But the Cougars, who fell 5-1 to Team Canada Red on Monday night, put the game away with five goals in the third period. Team White got one goal in the final 20 minutes, with Chouinard scoring her second of the game. Sarah Vaillancourt (Sherbrooke, QC/Harvard University, ECAC), who played on a line with Chouinard and Botterill, assisted on all three of Team White’s goals. Team White dropped to 1-2 at the Fall Festival. However, games against the Cougars don’t count in the overall standings. One game will be held on Wednesday night at the Fall Festival, with Team White getting a second shot at Team Red (7 p.m., Prince George Coliseum).
