BALANCED SCORING, SOLO EFFORTS HELP YELLOW TO WIN IN CAMP FINAL

CALGARY, Alta. – Six different players scored goals – four of them unassisted – as Yellow took home the title at the National Women’s Team evaluation camp with a 6-2 victory over White on Sunday afternoon in the camp’s final game.

Dominique Thibault (L’Orignal, Ont./Montreal, CWHL) and Bailey Bram (Ste. Anne, Man./Mercyhurst College, CHA) scored in the first period, Bobbi-Jo Slusar (Swift Current, Sask./Strathmore, WWHL) and Natalie Spooner (Scarborough, Ont./Ohio State University, WCHA) added second-period goals and Meghan Agosta (Ruthven, Ont./Mercyhurst College, CHA) and Christine Bestland (Brunkild, Man./Mercyhurst College, CHA) rounded out the Yellow offence in the third to help avenge its only loss of the week, a 5-1 setback at the hands of White on Saturday.

Jennifer Botterill (Winnipeg, Man./Toronto, CWHL) and Jocelyne Larocque (Ste. Anne, Man./University of Minnesota-Duluth, WCHA) had the goals for White, which entered the game as the only team that had not yet tasted defeat at camp.

Shannon Szabados (Edmonton, Alta./Grant MacEwan University, ACAC) and Amanda Mazzotta (London, Ont./Cornell University, ECAC) put in 30 minutes each in the White goal, combining to make 33 saves, while Liz Knox (Stouffville, Ont./Wilfrid Laurier University, CIS) went the distance in a 20-save performance for Yellow.
