WHITE SCORES TWICE FOR WHITE IN UNDER-22 WIN

Catherine White (Brampton, ON/Mississauga Chiefs, PWHL) scored two goals to lead Canada White to a 4-2 win over the CIS All-Stars in the second game of the National Women’s Under-22 Team selection camp on Tuesday night at York University in Toronto.

It was the second 4-2 victory in a row for members of the under-22 camp, who are split into two teams (Canada Red and Canada White), against the CIS All-Stars.

White scored the final two goals for her team to extend Canada White’s lead to 4-1. The forward converted on the power-play late in the second period before scoring a beautiful shorthanded goal on a backhand pass from Rebecca Johnston (Sudbury, ON/Cornell University, ECAC) early in the third.

White played for Canada’s silver-medal winning National Women’s Under-18 Team last year.

Dominique Thibault (L’Orignal, ON/University of Connecticut, HE) opened the scoring for Canada White just shy of the five-minute mark of the opening period, and Jennifer Wakefield (Pickering, ON/University of New Hampshire, HE) made it 2-1 on a breakaway late in the first.

Mandy Cole got the CIS All-Stars on the board just over two minutes after Thibault’s goal, notching her first goal in a competitive game since breaking an ankle in an OUA game last November.

Andrea Bevan, a first-team CIS All-Canadian, also scored for the CIS.

The camp continues on Wednesday when Canada White faces Canada Red at 8 p.m. EDT.
