The Regina Pat Canadians worked overtime to take top spot in the SMAAAHL; an extra-period winner from Cole Sillinger in the season finale gave the Pat Canadians a one-point edge over Tisdale for first place. Regina rebounded from a four-game losing streak in mid-October to earn points in 19 of its next 21 games (18-2-1), including a season-high nine wins in a row. Sillinger ran away with the SMAAAHL scoring title (31-45—76), while at the other end Drayden Ramage posted a league-leading 1.70 goals-against average to go along with 18 wins and six shutouts to backstop the No. 1 defence (84 GA in 44 GP).
