The countdown is on – 100 days to go until the 2022 Olympic Winter Games open in Beijing.

The schedule for the men’s hockey tournament is out, and Canada’s Men’s Olympic Team will begin its quest for a 10th gold medal with preliminary-round matchups against host China, Germany and the United States.

Historically, how have the Canadians fared against their first three opponents?

The host country enters its first top-level international tournament, having never competed at the Olympic Winter Games or IIHF World Championship. The Chinese lost out in the first round of qualifying in 2006 and 2018, and were eliminated in regional qualification in 1998 and 2002.
