Quotes:

“I just got on the ice and [Renata] Fast had the puck. I thought I could regroup and get some speed and she made a really nice pass to me down on the two-on-one. I felt like [Marie-Philip] Poulin was covered, so I took the shot and it went in and it’s a goal I’ll remember for a long time.”

“All the girls have been super nice and supportive. The experience has been second to none and I’m grateful to be part of it. I’m going to go back to school and take with me how hard they work day in and day out, and that’s what it takes to make the next level. I’m going to keep doing that and hopefully pick up my team [at Colgate] and inspire them to be the best they can be.”

  • Serdachny on her game-winning goal and her first experience with Canada’s National Women’s Team.

“It was a really important game for our group, being able to have the mindset that regardless of what the series stands at there is still a job to be done every single night. This win just puts us back in the ball game and able to play for something meaningful. Now, moving forward it is really important that our players and our coaches are impacting the days we’re not together, preparing as best as we can so that when we hit the ice in February we are ready to pick up where we left off. If we do that we should be in a good spot.”

  • Assistant coach Kori Cheverie (New Glasgow, N.S.) on getting the win and preparing for the final games of the series

“I think it’s the best Christmas present we all could have asked for. 2022 has been a pretty special year for us and to end the year winning these two games, in the U.S., after being down by three [games], you couldn’t write a better story. We knew we had work to do, and we really wanted it. We just wanted to do whatever we had to in order to turn the tide and that’s what we did. We showed up here a little earlier, we put our heads down, went to work and adjusted a few things, but in general we stuck to our game and our details and we had fun doing it and that was the difference.”
