CANADA TOPPED BY U.S. IN GAME 2

CALGARY, Alta. - Ryleigh Houston (Winnipeg, Man./University of Minnesota Duluth, WCHA) scored the lone Canadian goal, but the United States scored three goals in the third period to hand Canada’s National Development Team a 3-1 loss Friday.
Houston struck first for Canada with four-and-a-half minutes left in the second period. Sarah Fillier (Georgetown, Ont./Princeton University, ECAC) and Emma Maltais (Burlington, Ont./Ohio State University, WCHA) started a pretty passing play and Houston finished it off, snapping the shot home for the 1-0 lead.
Canada took that advantage into the third period, but Maureen Murphy got the Americans on the board less than three minutes into the final frame. With the U.S. pressuring in the Canadian zone, she tipped a point shot from Jincy Dunne over the shoulder of Canadian goaltender Kristen Campbell (Chater, Man./University of Wisconsin, WCHA).
The game-winner for the U.S. also came of the stick of Dunne when she fired a point shot through traffic midway through the period.
With Campbell pulled and Canada looking for the equalizer late in the third, Sydney Brodt sealed the victory with an empty-netter.
Campbell was solid for Canada, turning away 19 of the 21 shots she faced, including several point-blank chances in the second period.
Canada will look to avoid the sweep when the series wraps up on Sunday morning at the Markin MacPhail Centre (10 a.m. MT).
