TAMPERE, Finland – Canada’s National Men’s Under-18 Team will play Team U.S.A. on Friday in semifinal action at the IIHF World Under-18 Men’s Hockey Championship in Finland at 11:30 a.m. ET / 8:30am PT, with the game being shown live on TSN/RDS, Hockey Canada’s official broadcaster.
Team U.S.A. reached the semifinal with a 7-2 win over Slovakia on Thursday night in quarterfinal action, while Team Canada earned a berth in the semifinals thanks to winning Pool A with a 3-0-1-0 record, which included three regulation time wins and one shootout victory. This will be the 2nd time these two teams have met as Canada beat USA in shootout, 3-2, earlier in the preliminary round of this championship.
Friday’s other semifinal game at the World Under-18 Championship, will start at 3 p.m. local time (8 a.m. ET), featuring Sweden against Russia, which defeated Switzerland 4-3 in overtime in Thursday’s other quarterfinal game. Sweden finished atop Pool B with a 2-1-1-0 record.
The semifinal winners will meet for gold on Sunday at 6 p.m. local time, 11 a.m. ET. The semifinal losers will play for bronze at 2 p.m. local time, 7 a.m. ET. TSN/RDS will televise Canada’s game on Sunday. Check local listings for more details.
