While in Finland, the team headed to a local go-cart circuit and tried their hand at car racing. It was a day enjoyed by all, and a return to the last time that Andy Murray was Canada’s Head Coach, in 2003. That year, the team went on to winning a gold medal and Murray is hoping that the afternoon of racing will have the same effect.
The team was split in three groups for qualifying laps. From those three ten-minute sessions, 12 drivers advanced to the A final, with the rest of the drivers having to settle for the B final. It turned out to be a heated race between two NHL teammates. Jason Chimera trailed until the final lap, when he got past Rick Nash to claim the title. Justin Williams finished third.
