SAINT-HYACINTHE, Que. – Preparations are well underway for the 47th edition of the TELUS Cup in Saint-Hyacinthe, Que., and excitement continues to build for hockey fans with the release of full-event ticket packages for Canada’s National Midget Championship, set for April 20-26, 2020.
Hockey Canada, in partnership with Hockey Quebec, launched early-bird ticket packages for the 2020 TELUS Cup this morning and they are available for purchase online at HockeyCanada.ca/Tickets.
Hockey fans can attend all 19 games at the 2,048-seat Stade L.P. Gaucher and take advantage of early-bird pricing with package prices at $45 for youth under the age of 18 and $65 for adults. Single-game tickets will go on sale at a later date.
“Excitement for the TELUS Cup in and around Saint-Hyacinthe and the Gaulois hockey club is growing,” said Jean Bédard, chair of the host organizing committee. “The community has shown great support for the event with a dozen different committees working to ensure the 2020 TELUS Cup is one to remember for fans and participants. On behalf of the Montérégie region, I look forward to welcoming the best Midget teams from across Canada to the province of Quebec for an outstanding tournament.”
Canada’s National Midget Championship returns to the province of Quebec for the first time since Rivière-du-Loup hosted in 2015.
The host Gaulois appeared in the 2003 and 2010 editions of the tournament, winning a silver medal and finishing fourth when the team was previously known as the Gaulois du Collège Antoine-Girouard. The host squad will be joined by teams representing the Atlantic, Central, Pacific, Quebec and West regions when tournament action gets underway in April. The full tournament schedule will be released at a later date.
“It is an exciting time for the community of Saint-Hyacinthe and we know from past events in the province that the host committee will deliver a competitive and world-class event,” said Dean McIntosh, vice-president of events and properties with Hockey Canada. “We look forward to showcasing the best Midget players and leaving a lasting legacy that supports growth and development of minor hockey in the region.”
As with all of Hockey Canada’s national championships, the net proceeds from all ticket sales at the event will stay within the community of Saint-Hyacinthe as a legacy to help grow the game locally. The economic impact on the host communities of recent editions of the TELUS Cup has neared $2 million over the seven-day event.
