LATE GAME REBELLION MEANS HOMETOWN TEAM CLIMBS TO THIRD PLACE
REGINA, Sask. – The noise level in the Co-operators Centre reached almost-deafening levels when Regina
staged a rebellion in OT to beat the Edmonton Thunder 2-1, allowing the heavily favoured host team to climb
up the rankings to third place Tuesday.
Brooklyn Moskowy (Regina, Sask.) was the hometown hero who sent the fans in the stands into a frenzy,
picking up a bouncing puck and popping it into the back of the Pacific team’s net at 1:20 in the fourth
period, while Thunder netminder Morgan Glover (Edmonton, Alta.) scrambled in an attempt to cover it up.
But despite sealing the deal in the end, for much of the game it appeared as though the win would belong
to Edmonton, with the Thunder pocketing the first marker at 17:26 in the second period, courtesy of Stephanie
Zvonkovic (Edmonton, Alta.) with an assist from Alison Campbell (Edmonton, Alta.).
The Rebels had to battle their way through two full periods and most of the third, with plenty of feisty
back and forth play between the two teams, before finally evening up the score on a power play at 17:28 in
the third, with Andrea Ehrmantraut (White City, Sask.) finding the back of the net and buying Regina some
extra time in the game.
Goalies at both ends of the ice stood their ground with Samantha Langford (Pense, Sask.) stopping 37 shots
and Glover making 22 great saves. Thanks to her outstanding efforts in the crease, Langford skated away with
Player of the Game for Regina while Kirsten Reeves (Edmonton, Alta.) had the honour for the Thunder.
