Heather Kashman (Edmonton, Alta.) was credited with the assist on the lone goal of the game afterfiringthe puck at St. Albert Slash netminder Emily Mitchell (St. Albert, Alta.), who made the first save andhad anoutstanding game between the posts for the hosts of the 2011 Esso Cup.

Dedicated family members, friends and local hockey fans filled Servus Place with the sounds ofclaps, cheers and noise makers to motivate both teams to be at their best on the ice, and it showed in askilled, fast game that resulted in the puck being passed tape-to-tape and plenty of shots on net for bothsides.

While Campbell was named player of the game for Edmonton, Jessica Kampjes (Bon Accord, Alta.) receivedthesame honour for St. Albert, after proving to be a true leader on the ice. Kampjes created some greatchancesup front, and was able to dig for and come up with the puck on several occasions to create breakawaychancesfor herself. Midway through the third, and while her team was shorthanded no less, Kampjes handilystole thepuck from a Thunder player standing at the Slash blue line and took off down the middle of the iceto releasea hard shot at the net that just couldn't find its way past goaltender Morgan Glover (Edmonton,Alta.).

In the end, fans supporting both teams saw a fantastic hockey game that put the great game of femalehockeyon display. The Edmonton Thunder take on the Kodiaks du Lac St-Louis (Québec) at 4 p.m. MT Wednesday, whilethe hosts St. Albert Slash will have another tough matchup against the Notre Dame Hounds (West) whenthe puckdrops at 7:30 p.m. MT.
