May 7, 2006 CANADA’S ROSTER AT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP NOW AT 23 PLAYERS, WITH ADDITION OF DEFENCEMAN TREVOR DALEY RIGA, LATVIA – Team Canada General Manager Ken Holland (Vernon, BC/Detroit Red Wings) and Assistant General Manager Mike Barnett (Olds, AB/ Phoenix Coyotes) announced on Sunday the addition of defenceman Trevor Daley (Toronto, ON/ Dallas Stars) to Team Canada’s official roster for the 2006 IIHF World Championship in Riga, Latvia from May 5-21, 2006. Daley will arrive in Latvia on Monday, May 8th. Canada’s World Championship roster now stands at 23 players, including two goaltenders, seven defencemen and 13 forwards. A full roster can include up to 25 players at the World Championship, which would include two players that can be only added following the qualifying round, immediately before the quarter-finals. Canada’s World Championship Team opened with a 5-3 victory over Denmark on Friday, May 5th, and faces Norway on Sunday, May 7th. All of Canada’s games will be broadcast live from Latvia on TSN/RDS, the official broadcaster of Hockey Canada.
