Canada's National Men's Team opened the 2003 Swiss Cup with a hard fought 2-2 draw with Germany Friday.
The game was played at the St-Jakob Arena in Basel, Switzerland.
Both teams exchanged goals in the first period with Germany jumping out to an early 1-0 lead at 7:08 on a
Sven Felski goal. Former NHL'er Terry Yake replied for Canada with 4:25 left in the period after converting a
Jarrod Skalde pass.
Germany regained their one goal lead in the second as Daniel Kreutzer beat Canadian goaltender Frederic
Chabot at the 5:54 mark.
In the final period Canada would tie the game at two when another former NHL'er, James Black, notched his
first goal of the tournament.
Canada's next game will be Saturday when they face-off against Slovakia at 1:30pm (EST).
