Swiss Cup Canada's National Men's Team, led by Peter Sarno’s three assists, lost to Slovakia today by the score of 4-3 at the Swiss Cup played at the St-Jakob Arena in Basel, Switzerland. Canada’s record at the Swiss Cup now stands at 0-1-1.Slovakia got on the board first at 10:02 as Jaroslav Kmit beat the Canadian goaltender. Canada’s Mike Gaul replied just over 4 minutes later, with assists going to Brandon Convery and Peter Sarno to end the first period at 1-1. Canada scored next, 13 minutes into the 2nd period, as Jeff Christian scored, with Convery and Sarno assisting once again. But then, it was all Slovakia, as they scored three unanswered goals – two in the 2nd period and one more with just under 4 minutes remaining the game to go up 4-2. Canada’s Jan Alston scored with 1:17 left in the game to make it 4-3, and continued to pressure until the final buzzer, but the game finished 4-3 for Slovakia.
