Swiss Challenge Canada's National Men's Team doubled Switzerland 4-2 on Tuesday in Bern, Switzerland. Team Canada, comprised of Canadians playing in Europe, responded to an earlier second period goal by former NHL-er Reto Van Arx, with two goals one minute apart in the final moments of the middle frame. Former NHL-er and National Junior Team alumnus Christian Dubé put Canada on the board at 18:48 and one minute later, former Canadian Olympian Jean-Yves Roy gave Canada their first lead. Switzerland tied the game on a goal by Claudio Micheli at the 4 minute park. A mere 22 seconds after the Swiss had evened the score, international hockey veteran Jan Alston staked Canada to a 3-2 lead. Dubé eliminated any doubt of the final outcome with his second of the evening at 16:07 of the third period. Ian Gordon earned the victory in net for Canada. The Swiss National Team included seven members of their 2002 Men's Olympic Ice Hockey Team. A second roster will now join Head Coach Gary Green in Cologne, Germany for an exhibition game on November 6, 2002 vs. Germany and the Deutschland Cup which runs in Hannover from November 6-10, 2002.
