2005 Canada’s National Men’s Team vs. Hungary Canada Beats Germany 4-1, and Plays Slovakia Tomorrow For the Hungarian Cup Championship BUDAPEST, HUNGARY – Team Canada defeated Germany 4-1, and improve their record at the Hungarian Cup to a perfect 2-0. Canadian forward Chris Herperger opened the scoring in the first giving the red and white a 1-0 first period lead. After a scoreless second period, it took Canada another 30 minutes of hockey before they were able to score their second goal of the game as red-hot Canadian Mike Green buried his third of the tournament. Canada’s Eric Schneider scored an unassisted goal to give them a comfortable 3-0 lead, but the Germans would not go down without a fight as they ruined Canadian goalie Steve Passmore’s shut-out bid with just over seven minutes remaining in the game. Canada’s Glen Metropolit added a late goal to seal the victory for Canada with a 4-1 win. Goalie Steve Passmore earned his first win with 19 saves in his Team Canada debut.
