U.S. MOVES TO 2-1 WITH WIN OVER NORWAY

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The United States has taken one more step towards a berth in the gold medal game at the 2009 World Sledge Hockey Challenge.

The Americans earned a 3-0 win over Norway on Thursday to finish at 2-1 in round-robin play. Alexi Salamone scored twice for the Americans, with Andy Yohe adding a single. The United States controlled the game from start to finish, outshooting the Norwegians 18-4.

The U.S. will await the outcome of Thursday night’s Canada-Japan game to see which two teams will advance to Saturday’s gold medal game. A Canadian win would set up a Canada-U.S. final.

Norway, sitting at 0-3 after the round robin, is assured of a spot in the bronze medal game on Thursday and is in jeopardy of going winless in the event after winning silver the last two years.
