THREE NATIONS CUP The top three women's hockey nations in the world, which included Canada, the United States and Finland were invited to take part in the first ever 3 Nations Cup which ran from October 20-27, 1996 in cities throughout Ontario and Canton, New York.

This double round-robin tournament will gave these countries a chance to take each other's measure just prior to the 1997 Women's World Championship slated for March 31-April 6 in Kitchener, Ont. The top five countries from the world championship advanced to the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan along with the host country. Round robin games were played in Eastern Ontario cities including Ottawa, Cornwall, Smiths Falls, Kingston as well as Canton, New York. The top two teams will faced off in the final game at the Ottawa Civic Centre on October 27, 1996.
