IMAI’S OVERTIME WINNER KEEPS B.C’S HOPES ALIVE
Kaitlin Imai scored her second goal of the game 3:29 into overtime, giving British Columbia a huge 4-3 win
over Ontario Blue and keeping them in the running for a semi-final spot on Saturday at the National Women’s
Under-18 Championship.
Kathleen McDonald and Alannah Kedra-McCormack also scored for B.C. (1-1-1), who now await the outcome of
the Quebec vs. Team Atlantic match-up. A win by Team Atlantic moves the Westerners to Saturday’s fifth-place
game, while a Quebec win leaves it up to the mathematicians to decide who moves on in the quest for gold.
Imai finished off a scramble in front of the Ontario Blue goal, pushing the puck past Nicole Paniccia
moments after the Ontario Blue goaltender had turned away an opportunity from Elana Lovell, setting off a
raucous celebration in the goal crease as B.C. mobbed Imai, who picked up Player of the Game honours for her
heroics.
Jenna McParland – her team’s Player of the Game – scored twice and Jamie Lee Rattray added one goal for
Ontario Blue (0-3), who will play the fourth-place finisher from Group A in Saturday morning’s seventh-place
game (10:00 a.m. ET).
