DAOUST NOTCHES THREE AS RED TAKES 3-ON-3 OPENER

CALGARY, Alta. – Mélodie Daoust (Valleyfield, Que.) scored three times, twice in a four-goal first period, as Team Red earned its third win in a row at the National Women’s Under-18 Team selection camp with a 6-4 win over Team White.

The game was the first of two 3-on-3 games scheduled for Wednesday, and was played in three 12-minute, stop-time periods.

Daoust’s first two goals came less than four minutes apart in the opening period, and capped off a back-and-forth frame that saw Red take a pair of leads, only to see White come back to tie the game, all in the first four minutes of action.

Cassandra Poudrier (Lachenaie, Que.), Kelly Babstock (Mississauga, Ont.) and Christine Bestland (Brunkild, Man.) also notched goals for Red, which took both 4-on-4 games on Sunday and Monday after dropping the camp’s first game on Saturday night.

White, which was outshot 29-22, got goals from Dayle Wilkinson (Stouffville, Ont.), Hannah Armstrong (Sharon, Ont.), Sarah Davis (Paradise, N.L.) and Theadora Imbrogno (Etobicoke, Ont.).
