CANADA WHITE TAKES A 6-2 VICTORY OVER FINLAND

OTTAWA – Team White won its second game in as many nights as they defeated Finland 6-2.

Team White scored three first period goals, two on the power play coming from Jesse Scanzano (Montreal, QC) and Melanie Gagnon (St. Adolphe, MB), while Hayley McMeekin (Unionville, ON) added the third.

Finland was able to get one by Canadian goalie Britni Kehler (Mitchell, MB) with five minutes left in the first, but trailed Team White 3-1.

The second period was all Canada as Team White added three more goals to go up 6-1 and outshoot Finland 18-8. Goal scorers for Team White were Bobbi Ross (Verwood, SK), Rebecca Johnston (Sudbury, ON) and Courtney Sawchuk (Sherwood Park, AB).

Finland came out with an impressive third period, outscoring Team White 1-0 on a nifty goal by veteran forward Karolina Rantamaki, and out shooting the Canadian squad 15-8.

Team White took the game 6-2, with Kehler making 31 saves in net for Canada and Maija Hassinen making 31 saves in net for Finland.
