Canada 6 - HK Davos 3 Spengler Cup CANADA BEATS HC DAVOS 6-3 AT SPENGLER CUP DAVOS, Switzerland – Jamie Wright (Kitchener, ON/Servette, SUI) scored Canada’s first and last goals to lead his team to a 6-3 victory over HC Davos on Wednesday at the Spengler Cup. Team Canada fell behind 2-0 to Davos before Wright scored his first of the game. And Canada scored the next four goals, as Stacy Roest (Lethbridge, AB/Rapperswil, SUI), Krys Kolanos (Calgary, AB/Langnau, SUI), Kirby Law (McCreary, MB/Servette, SUI) and Chris Herperger (Esterhazy, SK/Kloten, SUI) all found the back of the net. Wright capped Canada’s scoring with his second of the game. Jason Strudwick (Edmonton, AB/Lugano, SUI) chipped in with two assists. Justin Pogge (Penticton, BC/Toronto, AHL) earned his second straight win in net, having also helped Canada defeate Mora IK (Sweden) 4-3 in a shootout on Tuesday. Canada is 2-0 and will have Thursday off before hitting the ice on Friday for a game against Khimik (Russia). On Saturday, Canada plays EHC Eisbaren Berlin. The Spengler Cup, a tournament that dates back to 1923, follows a round-robin format.
