Memories of Stoney Creek
”We always got fired up to go the provincial championships. In Midget we played in the finals and that was one of the hardest battles I’ve ever played in. We ended up losing 1-0 in overtime to Thunder Bay [who advanced to the 2010 Esso Cup], but it was an amazing thing to be a part of.

“Our last weekend of junior hockey we played with 10 players and won bronze. Nobody thought we’d get that far. We did that with pure heart and hard work.

“My role changed from when I was a younger player moving up to when I was one of the older players. When I was younger I looked up to a lot of players who had gone on to the NCAA and were older than me. I wanted to be like them. As I got older and progressed within Stoney Creek, I wanted to be one of those leaders that the younger kids look up to.

“I never met two people who wanted to see success out of their players more than [coaches] Glenn Boles and Stacey Marnoch. They wanted to see us be special. When we were talking to schools, when we were being involved with Team Ontario, Team Canada – anything they could do to help us they would do.”
