UNITED STATES BEATS JAPAN TO RECORD FIRST WIN
CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – An early goal and a late goal in the second period were all the United States
needed during its 2-0 win over Japan on Wednesday afternoon at the 2009 World Sledge Hockey Challenge.
Mike Hallman scored at 1:26 of the middle frame and Andy Yohe netted a goal at 13:50 as the Americans got
into the win column after a lopsided 4-0 loss to Canada on Tuesday night.
Steve Cash made nine saves to earn the shutout in goal.
Japan and the United States are both 1-1 going into the final day of the round-robin on Thursday. The top
two teams will advance to Saturday’s gold medal final, with the bottom two playing for bronze.
