BRECLAV, CZECH REPUBLIC – Canada’s National Summer Under-18 Team captured its third consecutive Junior World Cup and tenth international summer under-18 event in 11 years, as Canada defeated USA 3-0 in the Championship Game on Saturday in Breclav, Czech Republic.

Forward Brett Sonne (Maple Ridge, BC/Calgary – WHL) one timed a set up pass from team captain, Angelo Esposito (Montreal, QC/Quebec – QMJHL) on a two man advantage to open the scoring for Team Canada at 10:49 of the first period.

Canada added to its lead 2:12 in to the second period when Sonne struck for his second of the game as he converted on a 2-on-1 odd man rush with forward Tyler Ennis (Edmonton, AB/Medicine Hat – WHL).

The lead was extended for Canada when Brandon Sutter (Red Deer, AB/Red Deer – WHL) left a drop pass for Ennis, who was able to beat USA goaltender Jeremy Smith at 10:38 of the third period, which turned out to be the final goal in a 3-0 Canada Victory.

Trevor Cann (Oakville, ON/Peterborough – OHL) registered the win in net for Team Canada, and Canadian forward Brett Sonne, with two goals, including the game winner, was named Player of the Game.
