Todd Nicholson and Graeme Murray scored the goals as the Canadians claimed bronze with a victory over Japan. Canada allowed only one goal regulation-time goal in five tournament games.

Marc Dorion scored with 1:41 left to force overtime, but Canada fell short in its quest to defend its world title, losing in a shootout to the Americans, sending it to the bronze medal game.

Brad Bowden and Adam Dixon scored two goals apiece as Canada wrapped up an undefeated preliminary round by blanking the Japanese and running its shutout streak to 135 minutes.

 

CANADA 8 – GERMANY 0
PRELIMINARY | SUN. MAY 10

Canada’s veterans led the way as Jean Labonté scored once and added two assists and Todd Nicholson pitched in with two helpers to help the Canadians stay perfect and shut out Germany.

 

CANADA 3 – CZECH REPUBLIC 0 PRELIMINARY | SAT. MAY 9

Billy Bridges scored twice and Paul Rosen and Benoît St-Amand combined to stop everything they faced as the Canadians opened defence of their world title by blanking the Czechs.
